2010 Pret-a-Porter IIDA Competition
The competition is called "Pret-a-Porter" which means "ready to wear" and is a competition for Students (like us) and Interior Design professionals. We were to design and create a "ready to wear" outfit or gown that is entirely made out of interior design materials. As a team, we were sponsored by an Interior Design manufacturer, MAHARAM (maharam.com), which is upholstery fabric and wallpaper. We created a design, found the right fabrics and sewed our dress together.
Our team was awarded 1st place for the Student Competition, competing against 3 other schools in Colorado including Colorado State University, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, and the Art Institute of Colorado.
Also, never happening before, our team won Best in Show, while competing alongside over 25 professional design firms.
Here is our concept drawing we had ready to turn in before we started the dress.

our house
Because I am a "starting out" Interior Designer, pretty much my only "real life" portfolio so far, that I can document, is our house. Being on an extreme budget and using furniture and accessories I've collected over the years moving from apartment to apartment... this is my design.
When we bought the 15 year old house, all the walls were white and had never been painted, so we spent a week painting. We replaced all the window treatments and light fixtures, and purchased new appliances. Nothing has been remodeled.... yet. We are currently working on the master bathroom.
There are more pictures to come, but for now.... enjoy.

frame wall {part 2}
I started designing this frame wall for my mom's living room, with pictures I took of the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA. Because I live 1,000 miles away, I couldn't be there long enough to put everything together for her, so I hung the frames in place and took measurements. When I got home I photoshoped the images, and arranged them as to how they are going to look in the digital image shown below, so that it would be easy for her to put them together without me being there.
I sent the pictures to print and all my mom had to do was put the pictures in the frames that looked like the digital picture and Voila! Check it out:

stacy & dan engagement session
I had so much fun with Stacy & Dan. I work with Stacy at the J. Crew Factory Store in Castle Rock. She got engaged and needed a photographer, so I was happy to do it. Since they both live downtown, I knew the perfect place for their photo shoot. The two of them cracked me up the entire time.
Stacy & Dan are getting married... check out their engagement photo shoot in Denver.
